Currently, Dr. Newell’s research is focused on investigating the glial activation and response to traumatic brain injury in rodent models. We are also looking at how biological and biochemical outcomes following injury vary among differences in age and sex.
I’m interested in research because it is a great way to find answers to things unknown and improve on what is already known. Our goal in research is to find and develop methods for the millions of individuals who suffer from traumatic brain injury each year.
Outside of lab, I love coffee, traveling, exercising, and playing golf!
