OUR Summer Research Fellowship Deadline Fast Approaching

Undergraduate research experiences are a great way to elevate your time at the University of Iowa. The program provides funding that allows current University of Iowa undergraduates in any discipline to work with UI faculty or Professional & Scientific staff mentors on a specific project during the summer. Scholarship funding for selected applications is in the amount of $3,000 (for about 15-20 hours/week of work for 10 weeks) during the summer.

Electrical brain networks of stress, depression, and migraine

We're looking for a student with careful attention to detail, patience, and outstanding fine motor skills who is interested in working in a neuroscience research lab environment. The student would learn how to build electrodes under a microscope and to prepare slides with brain slices. This position could be an opportunity for a neuroscience or engineering student interested in research to get exposure to the lab, which could lead to an independent study research project. It could also be an interesting opportunity for a student in the arts who is drawn to the highly technical a unique way to apply their skills.

Fulbright Week

UI hosts 11th Annual Fulbright Week, April 8 - 12. It serves as a kickoff for the 2025-2026 Fulbright U.S. Student Program competition. Various virtual workshops and information sessions will be held throughout the week, covering different aspects of the Fulbright program. These sessions are designed to provide valuable information and include Q&A periods. All levels of undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to participate.

"I was able to present my findings on the petrology and stratigraphy of the Séítah unit within Jezero Crater, Mars and receive feedback and support from industry professionals which I will use in strengthening future research projects." - Thomas Anderson who traveled to Houston, TX to present his geology research at the 2024 Lunar and Planetary Science Conference.

Need help formatting your poster to present at SURF? Any poster-related questions or feedback is available from OUR Research Ambassadors who have poster presentation experience! Office hours for one-on-one help are available at 6 Gilmore Hall on March 25th from 10:30-11:30 a.m. and March 27th, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and 4:00-5:00 p.m.
