Applying State-of-the-Art AI to 3D Lung Imaging
Monday, April 7, 2025
The Advanced Pulmonary Physiomic Imaging Laboratory (APPIL) is looking for several undergraduate research assistants to help with an ongoing project—specifically, to evaluate three different methods for segmenting the pulmonary arterial and venous trees from 3D chest CT scans.
There are three methods to explore, but one shared goal: to improve the separation and segmentation of pulmonary arteries and veins. Each method comes with publicly available code and an associated research paper. Your task would be to pick one of the methods, get the code running, and evaluate its performance on a sample arterio-venous-separation dataset. You don’t need to fully understand the technical intricacies—unless you want to, and chances are, you will if you spend enough time with the project.
